25 years of AWANA

Larry surprised me big time by planning a celebration for me at church today. The celebration was to celebrate my 25 years as AWANA Commander. What a wonderful surprise it was. The cake was so special as you can see. It was the AWANA circle. I have decided to step down and not be Commander any more. It makes me a little sad but I am excited about some new ideas that I am developing. A little boy reading the poster asked me "What is an era?" I explained that it is a span of time and that this era represented 25 years. He looked at me and said, "I am not even double digits yet. :) I thank the Lord for my AWANA years. I have enjoyed it immensely. As always, Larry went way over the top to honor me. Thanks honey - I love you.

Birthday Gift

I decided to do something out of the box for dad's present. I got him a plant for his office. He liked it.

Happy Birthday Honey

My husband is 61. Once again we revisit the old joke that he robbed the grave when he got married for he is now the same age as me. What a wonderful man this is. He is everything to me. Every year is more precious. We enjoyed a wonderful night that included steak supper, potting our own flowers, and watching memories on the VCR. Here he is watering our newly acquired flowers. We thank the Lord for all his blessings. We will celebrate with the banana pie on Saturday - his real birthday.

Happiness

The two shall become one. Dad and I can now be completely happy here. He loves hamburgers and root beer and I love fish. This then, was the perfect way to end our Easter get away.

Easter Break

Easter this year, 2009, was for us the climax of a very busy time and we were exhausted. Believe me 60 isn't the new 20. Therefore after a very meaningful and wonderful Easter service Larry and I took off for Omaha and a time of rest. We checked into a wonderful Holiday Inn. We slept, laid around, slept and laid around. Below are some pictures of the pool area. We think we may have found the next spot for a family vacation. This pool area was fantastic. Even had a play yard. The pool was huge and it was the walk in style. Lots of tables and chairs and the pool is fenced in. It is perfect. On Monday we did a little shopping in the afternoon and headed home. It was a great time.

Drama - Last Chance

This picture doesn't begin to capture the beauty of our stage once it was decorated for the drama. Add to this the amazing effect of lights and colored flames coming out of all of those pillars and you will begin to imagine out neat it was. Putting it up and taking it down was once again an amazing experience. You have to be a part of it to really understand.

Drama - The Cast

The last few days our lives have been consumed with the working out of our congregation putting on the drama "Last Chance". Pictured here is the entire cast. Once again this has been a tremendous experience for our church family. It stretched everyone in unimaginable ways. Everyone did a fantastic job, put in many, many hours and shared a witness for Jesus Christ. We saw many decisions and have a number of great contacts to follow up on. Many other people besides those pictured here put in a lot of hours. Once again we praise God for his working through his people.
