All better

When they said one week, they meant it! Praise the Lord. I am all better. Tonight I went for my first walk around town. It will take a little to get my strength back but I am doing good. As I look at this picture however I am still a little bent because it does still hurt a very little bit. I have another 3 days and then I will return to work. I am ready to quit sitting around :).

Recovering

Yea, it is over. Now all I have to do is relax and recover. So this is how I plan to spend my days. Already I have both enjoyed it and chaffed against it. This is now Monday and I feel quite abit better. So far I have been sleeping here also. It is comfortable for me. Soon I hope to be back with Dad.

Wiped Out

Okay this is not glamorous but I wanted to prove that I really did it. When I left the hospital I told the girls it would have been great fun if it hadn't hurt so bad :) They were all so wonderful and I really enjoyed the hospital. Your dad is so sweet to me. During my starvation days I was really craving a taco, so during surgery Dad went out and got me a taco and a hamburger in case that was too spicy. So when I woke up he had them ready for me. Unfortunately I couldn't wake up enough to eat them, so into the garbage they went. How sad. One thing I want my kids to know for sure is that your dad really loved me. Many, many times I have not deserved it but he has faithfully, unconditionally loved me as Christ has loved the church. I am eternally thankful for that.

Before surgery

Here I am chatting on the phone with Dave just before leaving for Sioux City. How precious each of my .children are to me. Your many phone calls have meant so much to me. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. With a support system like you provide, why wouldn't I do great.

The night before surgery

It is Thursday night. I have drank my, cocktail, cleaned myself inside and out and am tierd. Tomorrow I will have surgery at 3 p.m. My bigesst problem is that I can't eat until 8 or 9 tomorrow night and my last meal was breakfast today. Already the thought of taco's and potatoe 'oles are tourturing me. :) Thankfully dad took me out for a big breakfast this morning before I went to work. I am not anxious and hope to do a little shopping in Sioux City before I go in. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. I am thinking of them as a warm blanket covering me, and that feels good. Speaking of warm blankets the hospital I am going to takes their blankets out of a oven and they feel divine. I have had them before. Today I was told surgery would take and hour to an hour and a half. Talk to you after that.

Sunday School

I have taught Sunday School I think ever since I became an adult. Here is a attemted shot of my present class. Nine students in all, 6 boys. I love teaching children about anything, but especially about Jesus. They are so open and honest and love Jesus without all the baggage that grown ups have. This morning we had a lively discussion on Jesus as our helper and how that doesn't mean he will always do what we ask. I pray to become more child like in my faith.

Tractors, Funnel Cakes and Gospel Music

Friday Larry and I went to the Spencer Fair. I don't know if you all know this or not but Dad is a Fair lover. Thankfully I like them also. Friday was a beautifulfall sweatshirt day. We looked through buildings with lots of products, went to a horse show at which they displayed many different colors of horses. I couldn't believe it but I picked the winning horse. Next year I may wear my hat and boots. We ate pork chops on a stick and some real fancy curly potatoes. They were yummy. Then we ate the famous "Nutty Bar" and also had a funnel cake. Truely fairs are about the food. We looked at cows, lots of cows and visited with a really nice man and learned all about the Gernsey cow (very interesting). We listened to a gospel quartet that was good and walked among tractors. Of course we always loving look at Dad's Oliver tractors. I think that is why he loves fairs, because he can relive the by gone days of the farm. Days that were simple and full of pure pleasure for a young boy. We had a wonderful time walking hand in hand and being thankful for small town America and for each other.

Sunday Morning Worship

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, My Saviour
Has ransomed me
And like a flood
His mercy reigns
Unending love,
Amazing grace
This is right now my favorite chorus to sing. In these days nothing expresses my heart more than these words. We had a wonderful worship service this morning. It allowed God to speak to me and my spirit to speak to God. I stand amazed at God's wonderful mercy and grace and at the wonderful sense of freedom that comes in knowing him.

Chile

Tonight I remember why I love fall. It is actually chilly outside. We decided to make Chile for supper. So after a busy and productive day we settled into our comfy chairs with bowls of Chile. Life doesn't get much better. We are looking forward to tomorrow and worshiping with our church family. As we move into fall and all our programs kick into gear, there is an air of excitment. We are trusting God for great things in Meriden.

Ready for school

What a fun week I have had. Erika and I have went into the homes of all our children for our home visit. We have cleaned, organized and set up our classroom and we are ready to go. We think we are going to have a good class. We have some really cute kids. Remember when I was so sad over losing my helper last year? What a blessing it is to have Erika to work with. She is a great help to me and we have alot of fun. God is good.

Finished project.

The garage is now brownish/green and looks cleaner than it has for years.

Labor Day Fun

Dad and I undertook a big project for Labor Day. We painted the garage on the inside. We got all done except the trimming by the ceiling. We were just too tierd to finish, so saved that for another day. It looks good though and is a job well done. Hope you all had nice days.l
